Abstract
This paper investigates the extent to which management accountants have participated in the selection and use of executive information systems (EIS’s) in business. A survey was conducted on the role played by management accountants in organizations with EIS’s either in use or in development. The results of the survey are presented and discussed with possible explanations for differences between expectations and actual behaviour of management accountants. The results also support the premise that management accountants need to be well informed about senior management’s EIS needs and properly trained in systems design and analysis.
